Family leaves
Family leaves are leaves such as maternity, paternity and parental leaves. If you intend to take a family leave, you must inform your employer at least two months in advance.
For the duration of these leaves, parents are compensated by
- either earnings—related daily allowance
- or homecare subsidy.
Most collective agreements also stipulate that the employee is paid for the first couple of months. Check this from the collective agreement appropriate for you or with the union office.
It is prohibited to terminate an employment contract due to the employee’s pregnancy or his or her taking family leave.
For more information on your rights check the collective agreement of your own sector.
