Collective bargaining in six sectors this week
During this week, collective agreement negotiations will be underway with employer unions in the commercial sector, the facilities services sector, Veikkaus, Alko, the Finnish National Opera as well as the customer service and telemarketing sector. On Thursday, the Executive Committee of PAM will convene to discuss the negotiations.
Future terms of employment in the commercial sector will be negotiated on Monday the 13th and Wednesday the 15th of January with the Finnish Commerce Federation representing employers. The negotiations in the sector began last week and have thus far focused on mapping out the overall situation. The work will continue this week. The collective agreement for the commercial sector will expire in the end of January.
The company-specific collective bargaining for Veikkaus Oy with Service Sector Employers PALTA also continued on Monday 13 January. The negotiations for the collective agreement at Veikkaus launched last year. The current agreement will expire in the end of January. The collective agreement for Veikkaus covers employees such as game attendants at Veikkaus and Casino Helsinki locations.
Negotiations with Service Sector Employers PALTA on the collective agreement for employees of the Finnish National Opera also resumed on Monday 13 January. The negotiations for the National Opera will continue further on Thursday 16 January. Collective bargaining for technical staff at the Finnish National Opera began in December. So far matters discussed in the negotiations include the impact of the new Working Hours Act on the collective agreement.
On Tuesday 14 January, Real Estate Employers Kiinteistötyönantajat ry begin to negotiate the collective agreement for the facilities services sector with PAM. Collective bargaining in the sector began last Friday with negotiations that aimed to establish an overview of the situation. The collective agreement for the sector is valid until the end of the month. Jobs in the facilities services sector include cleaning, building maintenance, technical services, facility services, landscape services, and other duties that relate to these jobs.
Negotiations with Service Sector Employers PALTA on the collective agreement for Alko will commence on Friday 17 January. The collective agreement for Alko covers employees of Alko Inc.
Collective bargaining for the customer service and telemarketing sector will also launch on 17 January. The collective agreement for the sector covers employees of companies which are members of Markkinointipalvelujen Työnantajayhdistys, a member organisation of PALTA.
In addition to above negotiation sessions, agreement sector commissions of the retail services, amusement parks and printing sectors will meet this week. The agreement sector commissions for hotel, restaurant and leisure services, the security sector as well as Avecra train catering services met last week. The agreement sector commissions feature experienced trade union activists in each sector along with shop stewards from around the country. Agreement sector commissions play an important part in the creation of collective agreements.
The Executive Committee of PAM will also convene on Thursday 16 January.
