You are exempt from membership fees if you are away from work for a valid reason and do not receive a salary. To qualify for the exemption, report your unpaid period away from work to PAM. Military and non-military service are valid reasons for such an unpaid period.

Keep your membership up to date also during your service. You are exempt from membership fees if you are away from work for a valid reason and do not receive a salary.

Report your unpaid period to PAM. This is easy to do through the e-service or by calling the member helpline. When you are discharged from service and get back to work, remember to tell PAM.

When should you pay your membership fee?

You don’t have to pay your membership fee from your conscript’s allowance. However, if you receive a salary, you need to pay the membership fee according to its amount.

When you return to work

When you return to work after a long break, remember to check your payslip to make sure the employer has collected your union membership fee from your pay. If you pay your membership fees yourself, you can easily do this through the e-service.
