Negotiations in ski resort sector broken off – work stoppage at six ski resorts
Service Union United PAM and the Finnish Hospitality Association MaRa conducted unsuccessful pay negotiations in October. After this there have been collective agreement negotiations, which PAM broke off today. Today PAM’s Executive Committee decided on a limited work stoppage at six ski resorts.

Success of the commerce sector should also be felt in employees’ wage packets
Kesko posted good results in its quarterly report, but this was no surprise for Kesko employees. The result for the third quarter of this year was the company’s best-ever quarterly result. Quarterly earnings have improved no less than 14 times compared to the reference period.

PAM proposes amending the law to put an end to involuntary part-time work
We must strengthen the position of part-time employees, demands Service Union United PAM President Annika Rönni-Sällinen. PAM proposes that in the future, there should be reasonable grounds for allowing part-time work laid down by the law.

Decent work promotes equality and combats poverty
President Tarja Halonen is an honorary member of PAM and at the start of the millennium was involved in establishing the UN’s goal of safe and equal work for all that provides adequate income. That is still a long way off, however, even in Finland.

Equality in pay during family leave through local agreements
Family leave laws were reformed to increase equality. PAM was disappointed, that an agreement about pay during family leave could not be reached with the employers’ federations. Now the sight is on agreements at the company level to give both parents equal standing.
