PAM lifts job search blockade against safari company Nordic Unique Travels

Service Union United PAM and the employer association MaRa, which represents Nordic Unique Travels, have reached an agreement under which the company commits to correcting its practices and complying with legislation and the collective agreement for the adventure services sector in the future.

PAM lifts job search blockade against safari company Nordic Unique Travels

PAM imposed a job search blockade on Nordic Unique Travels, a company operating in Lapland, from 21 May 2026 because the company had repeatedly and knowingly violated the collective agreement for the adventure services sector over a period of several years. Through the job search blockade, PAM urged its members not to apply for jobs with the company.

A condition for lifting the job search blockade was that Nordic Unique Travels resolve all outstanding disputes, pay employees the wages owed to them, commit to complying with legislation and the collective agreement for the adventure services sector, and end its anti-union activities.

After the job search blockade was announced, negotiations began quickly.

— During the negotiations, the issues that led to the job search blockade were addressed, and there are no longer grounds to continue the blockade, says PAM’s organisational director Risto Kalliorinne.

PAM’s Executive Committee decided to lift the job search blockade with immediate effect. According to Kalliorinne, the job search blockade proved to be an effective measure, as it made it possible to address problems that had continued for years.

— PAM will continue to actively monitor compliance with terms and conditions of employment, and ensure that workers’ rights are respected, says Henna-Kaisa Turpeinen, regional manager for Northern Finland at PAM.
