PAM launches the Better together award – nominations now open

Through the Better together award, PAM wants to highlight actions and people who build community and promote the common good. The award winner will be announced on Equality Day.

Through the Better together award, Service Union United PAM aims to highlight actions and individuals or groups who build community and contribute to society in an exceptional way. The award can be granted to an individual or a group, and anyone can submit a nomination.

Why was the award created?

PAM’s executive director Heidi Lehikoinen emphasises that the Better together award was created as a response to the current times, which are marked by hopelessness, division and a lack of belief in the future.

— We want to bring attention to actions that create hope, joy and light. PAM is an important social actor and a people’s movement, and it is important for us to use our influence to make sure good deeds and community spirit are seen and valued.

Who can receive the award?

The Better together award can be given to an individual or group for actions that have:

  • built particularly good cooperation
  • created exceptional community spirit, or
  • had an exceptionally positive impact on society.

The award is an intangible recognition that will be highlighted in PAM’s communications. The award winner gets to choose which organisation or actor will receive PAM’s Better together donation of 3,000 euros.

How to nominate

Anyone can nominate a candidate for the Better together award. The nomination period is from 15 January to 2 March 2026.

All nominations will be reviewed by a pre-selection jury, which will propose a winner to PAM’s board. The award will be announced and presented during PAM’s Equality Day celebration in March.
