PAM Survey: How are employees in the tourism and hospitality sector doing?

PAM is launching a survey to explore the everyday experiences of employees working in the tourism and hospitality industry. The aim is to find out how people feel about their work and livelihood, what kinds of problems exist in the field, and what expectations employees have for their trade union.

According to PAM, the everyday realities of employees in the tourism and hospitality industry are often marked by widespread part-time work, unpredictable shift schedules, lack of breaks, and insufficient income. Violations of employment terms and perceived unfair practices — for example in agency work, break arrangements, or employee treatment — also require closer examination.

That’s why PAM wants to understand how widespread these issues are among workers in the industry and what kinds of solutions members expect from the union.

-The tourism and hospitality sector is one of PAM’s largest agreement sectors. It’s important to get a direct picture of what employees experience in their everyday work and what they expect from the union, says Antti Veirto, head of research at PAM.

The results of the survey will be used to improve PAM’s member services, develop working conditions, and support advocacy work in the sector. The survey is open from October 20 to November 2 and is available in both Finnish and English.

The survey is open to everyone working in the tourism and hospitality sector — both PAM members and non-members alike.

Among all respondents, five Super Gift Cards will be raffled.
