Welcome to PAM

PAM will now negotiate collective agreements for employees at Palmia. Come and influence your terms and conditions of employment!

For Palmia employees: information about the change in the collective agreement

Starting from 1 May 2025, the employment relationships at Palmia Oy and its subsidiary Palmia Palvelut Oy will follow the collective agreements negotiated by PAM. This change applies to employees working in food and restaurant services, property and cleaning services, and security services. Previously, these sectors followed the Avaintes agreement, which ended on 30 April 2025.

Palmia Oy’s ownership transferred from the City of Helsinki to the German investment company Mutares in 2023. Because of this, the company can no longer be a member of the Local Government and County Employers KT’s business division or apply the replacement agreement to Avaintes.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

From now on, the minimum terms of employment at Palmia, such as wages and working hours, will follow the collective agreements negotiated by PAM.

It’s important to read your own agreement carefully. PAM will organise training sessions for Palmia staff about the agreements, so keep an eye on updates.

Changing from one agreement to another affects the terms of employment. At Palmia, it has been agreed that employees already working before 1 May 2025 will not see their wages reduced. Otherwise, the new agreements will apply immediately.

PAM’s collective agreements are different from the previous ones and may affect:

  • wage levels
  • working hours and things like meal break length
  • holidays and other leave
  • rules for supplements and compensations.

Current staff representatives will continue in their roles until the end of the year as before.

Now that PAM negotiates the agreements for work at Palmia, it’s important to be part of the union that negotiates your wages, hours, holidays and other basic terms and conditions.

By joining PAM , you ensure that you get the best help for understanding the new agreement, your voice is heard, and you have access to all of PAM’s services and benefits.

As a member, you get personal support and advice and can attend sessions where we clearly and concretely explain your new collective agreement. Through PAM’s helpline you get answers to all questions about the collective agreements.

Our collective strength and influence comes from the number of members at the workplace. The more we are, the stronger our message to the employer and the better terms we can achieve.

You can easily switch to PAM. Just fill in the membership form and provide details of your current union or unemployment fund.

Also tick the box to authorise PAM to handle the transfer for you. Then you don’t need to inform your old union or unemployment fund – PAM will contact them on your behalf and make sure the switch goes smoothly.

When does my membership start?

Your membership begins on the day PAM receives your membership form. The first month is free for new members. For example, if you join on 10 September, your membership fee starts from 1 October. This benefit doesn’t apply to those who left PAM within the last 12 months and are rejoining.

Will I lose my unemployment protection if I switch unions?

It’s safe to switch to PAM from another union or unemployment fund, if there is no gap in your membership. This way, your right to earnings-related allowance continues.

If you’ve already left your previous union or unemployment fund, make sure to join PAM within 30 days to keep your earned work requirement for unemployment allowance. Also ensure that your fees are paid to the old union and fund until the transfer date.

PAM offers members legal aid, trainings, career coaching and many other valuable member services and benefits. On top of that, PAM knows your new collective agreement best and can advise and support you relating to it.

Only as a PAM member do you get these services. Being in another union won’t give the same support and protection when PAM negotiates your terms of employment. The membership fee is 1.5% of your wage before taxes and includes unemployment fund membership.

Great that you’re already with us! Update your contact and work details in PAM’s eService to make sure you receive all messages intended for Palmia employees.

Now is also a good time to tell your colleagues who are not yet members about PAM.
