PAM gathers information on the working and living conditions of seasonal workers in Northern Finland — take part in the survey!

The aim of the survey is to collect up-to-date information about everyday life in seasonal work and the working conditions of the seasonal workers. The survey is open from 16–28 February.

PAM has negotiated collective agreements for ski centres, adventure services, and the hotel and restaurant industry. These agreements guarantee minimum working conditions for employees. Despite this, PAM is contacted every week during the winter season about problems faced by seasonal workers and about companies that do not comply with the collective agreement.

PAM has received complaints about unclear practices in working hours, pay and orientation. PAM now wants to understand how common these problems are.

– We need up-to-date, broader information about the conditions in which seasonal work is carried out in the Northern Finland. Our goal is adress possible problems early and to strengthen workers’ position, says PAM’s regional manager Henna-Kaisa Turpeinen.

The results of the survey will be used in PAM’s monitoring of working conditions and in the development of terms and conditions of employment.

– Up-to-date information helps us improve our work and better understand workers’ needs. We want to make sure seasonal workers’ employment terms are upheld and that workers receive the support they need, says Henna-Kaisa Turpeinen.
